Registration for 2022-2023 year will be open Friday, August 26, 2022!
At Blessed Sacrament our goal is to pass on our beautiful Catholic faith to the children while still keeping everyone safe and healthy during the pandemic. Therefore we will be following certain protocols for our in-person classes which include; limiting the class size, following the archdiocese guidelines on mask wearing and sanitizing the classrooms, as well as making changes to online or at home learning when necessary. Currently according to the AOD guidelines facecoverings are required in classrooms but not outdoors. When we get closer to class time, an updated version of the guidelines will be posted online. The past year and a half we have all learned that we have to be flexible in this environment, so the rules may change as needed. We also understand that some families have reasons to be more cautious than others. Therefore, this year we are offering several options for religious education. Please feel free to choose the one you and your family are most comfortable with.
1. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. This will be in person with the children in the Atriums (Machebeuf religious education classrooms) as we have done in the past. In order to provide some safety and social distancing each class will be strictly limited to no more than 12 students. We will follow the guidelines laid out by the Archdiocese of Denver for Catholic Schools which currently requires children to wear face coverings indoors. At times a catechist may decide to do a lesson outdoors (weather permitting). Currently children will not be required to wear a mask outside. Due to the lack of catechists, we are not able to offer every level 1-3 during every time slot. Please sign your child up for the level that corresponds with their grade.
2. Family of Faith. This will be offered ONLINE. This is the curriculum we used last year but the subject will be The Sacraments. It is a family based program for children from K-8th grades with parent participation. We will meet 2 times per month. The online class will be meeting online only throughout the whole year. During the first class the parents will receive instruction. During the second class parents and children will share what they have been working on at home.
3. Middle School Faith Formation. This is an option for children 6th-8th grades that will follow the Chosen program. In order to provide some safety and social distancing each class will be strictly limited to no more than 12 students. We will follow the guidelines laid out by the Archdiocese of Denver for Catholic Schools which currently requires children to wear face coverings indoors. If you have a child in grades 6-8th this is a wonderful and fun opportunity for them to continue to learn. We are offering this on Sunday morning only.
Sacramental preparation will continue as usual. No matter what class option you choose, if your child is eligible to prepare for sacraments this year, there will be some parent/child meetings and/or retreats and rehearsals in addition to their regular classes.
Our goal is to assist you in creating a household of faith where each member of the household recognizes the presence of Christ in the love, care, and support shown to one another. We realize that parents are the “first and foremost” educators of their children, and your child’s faith formation begins in the home. How you live your faith has a much greater impact and influence on your child than any program offered in a classroom setting. And, learning as a family, praying at home, and attending Mass together each weekend (more if possible) teaches children more about our relationship with the Lord and our lived Catholic Faith than any text book lesson ever can! |
